Lead Electronics Design Engineer

Overview

Our client, a Green Tech innovative company with very strong financial backing from one High Net Worth individual investor whose main interest to invest in technology that is good for people and the environment rather than looking for an exit strategy

The initial product designed is an innovative AC power distribution system that has great potential in many verticals. Initially this technology was trialled at NASA back in the 1960’s. It utilises GaN and SiC materials

The designs are currently under wraps until all the critical patents are filed and then the website will follow. Currently employing 9 and looking to recruit a further 8

Education And Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics

  • 5+ years in Power Supply Unit design covering a variety of topologies including buck, boost, half or full bridge

  • Experience in designing of resonant power stages (LLC desirable and resonant stages desirable)

  • Must have designed magnetics for transformers and chokes

  • Experience in GAN, SiC and DSP control

  • Good grounding in principles of Power Supply Unit design

  • Knowledge of available components, their performance and suppliers

  • Knowledge of PCB design rules and industry standards of workmanship

  • Ability to design Power Supply Unit from scratch inc magnetics design and PCB layout supervision

  • Experience in magnetics design for all conversion topologies with a expertise in resonant power

  • Experience in planar transformer and inductor experience also important including PCB windings

  • Able to carry out control loop stabilisation, thermal management and EMC design and problem solving

  • Able to bring up new designs and devise test programs and carry them out. Fault finding and diagnostic skills

  • Eligible to work in the UK
